The Song of the Tree

Set in a village in Kyrgyzstan, the story follows a young man named Esen who is cast out of his community. He flees with Begimai, the daughter of a powerful local leader. During their escape and the ensuing conflict over her hand in marriage, a sacred totem tree is destroyed. This act of destruction brings danger to the entire village, leaving Esen to seek redemption and attempt to save the people who rejected him.

Directed by Aibek Daiyrbekov, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Sadyk Sher-Niyaz, the film is a joint production between Russia and Kyrgyzstan involving Melograno Films, Cinetrain, and Central Asia Film. The movie features Omurbek Izrailov in the lead role of Esen, alongside Temirlan Smanbekov as Bazarbai and Saltanat Bakaeva as Begimai. Other cast members include Jurduzbek Kaseivov, Taalaikan Abazova, and Ulan Nusipali.
