Set in the early 2000s, Yes, God, Yes follows Alice, a teenage girl raised in a devout Catholic family and educated at a strict religious school in a small American town. When an innocent online chat turns sexual, Alice discovers masturbation and is immediately consumed by guilt, since her upbringing treats any sexual feeling outside marriage as a sin. Seeking to make things right, she joins a religious retreat, where group confession, Bible study and prayer are meant to set her back on the straight path. Staying focused proves difficult, especially with an older student named Chris catching her attention, and her confusion grows as she learns something surprising about one of the retreat's most fervent participants.
Karen Maine wrote and directed the film, expanding a short of the same name she had made in 2017; it sits between that short and her 2022 feature Rosaline. Natalia Dyer plays Alice, with Timothy Simons as Father Murphy, Wolfgang Novogratz as Chris, Francesca Reale as Laura, Susan Blackwell as Gina and Parker Wierling as Wade among a credited cast of 104. The production involved 69 credited crew members and companies in Brazil, the United Kingdom and the United States.
Released in July 2020 and running 78 minutes, the film drew a critics' rating of 7.1/10 from 126 reviews, higher than its audience scores of 6.1/10 on IMDb from around 20,000 votes and 6.3/10 on TMDB from roughly 615 votes.
