Lust Stories

Lust Stories is an Indian anthology film made up of four short segments, each directed by a different filmmaker and each looking at love, desire and marriage in modern India from a woman's point of view. The stories range across social settings and situations, following characters who include a teacher involved with a student, a domestic worker and her male employer, a wife who grows suspicious of her husband, and a woman caught up in an affair. Karan Johar, Zoya Akhtar, Anurag Kashyap and Dibakar Banerjee each directed one segment; Kashyap and Banerjee also worked on the screenplay with Radhika Apte. The cast includes Kiara Advani, Radhika Apte, Akash Thosar, Randeep Jha, Bhumi Pednekar and Neil Bhoopalam. The film follows the 2013 anthology Bombay Talkies as a second collection of short films by established Indian directors.

For Johar, Akhtar, Kashyap and Banerjee, Lust Stories came in the middle of careers that already included several features, and all four went on to direct segments in the 2020 anthology Ghost Stories. Produced by Ronnie Screwvala and Ashi Dua Sara, the film runs two hours. On IMDb it holds a rating of 6.3 from around 14,000 votes, and on TMDB it has a 6.3 from roughly 146 votes. A critics' rating of 7.3 from 12 reviews is higher than those audience scores.
