King of Comedy

Wan Tin-Sau is a struggling actor who finds himself limited to playing background extras in films. To support himself, he manages a community center in his village where he also teaches acting. His life changes when he meets a bar hostess who wishes to appear more innocent and later finds an opportunity to work alongside a popular star. The story follows his pursuit of professional success and personal romance.

The film was directed by Stephen Chow and Lik-Chi Lee. For Chow, this project followed his work on From Beijing with Love, The God of Cookery, and Forbidden City Cop. For Lee, it came after The Lucky Guy. The screenplay was written by Chow alongside Steven Fung Min-Hang and Erica Li. The movie stars Stephen Chow in the lead role, supported by Cecilia Cheung Pak-Chi, Karen Mok Man-Wai, and Ng Man-tat.
