Let's Dance

Joseph is a passionate hip-hop dancer who turns down a job in his father's business and moves to Paris to try to make it as a dancer. With his girlfriend Emma and his best friend Karim, he joins a crew led by the well-known breaker Youri in the hope of winning an international hip-hop competition. When the selection day ends badly and the crew falls apart, Joseph is taken in by Rémi, a former star dancer who now teaches, and is drawn into the world of classical ballet. There he meets Chloé, a talented dancer preparing for an audition with a ballet company in New York. Their meeting brings the two dance styles together, and Joseph has to prove himself as a dancer and grow as an artist.

Let's Dance is a Belgian-French comedy drama from 2019, directed by Ladislas Chollat, who wrote the screenplay with Joris Morio. It was Chollat's first feature film. Audience response has been moderate: on IMDb it holds a rating of 6 out of 10 from around 1,700 votes, while on TMDB it sits at 6.5 out of 10 from roughly 340 votes. Both figures point to a film that found a modest but not indifferent public rather than a broad international following.
