Brexit: The Uncivil War

Brexit: The Uncivil War dramatises the inside story of the campaign that led to the United Kingdom's vote to leave the European Union. At its centre is Dominic Cummings, a political strategist whose drive and unorthodox methods shape the official Vote Leave operation. Opposing him is Craig Oliver, who runs the remain side's communications. The film follows the two camps as they compete for the attention and votes of the British public in the run-up to the 2016 referendum, focusing on the tactics, data and messaging each side uses to move opinion.

Benedict Cumberbatch plays Cummings, with Rory Kinnear as Oliver, John Heffernan as Matthew Elliott, Oliver Maltman as Michael Gove, Richard Goulding as Boris Johnson and Simon Paisley Day as Douglas Carswell. Toby Haynes directed from a screenplay by James Graham, with Lynn Horsford producing for Channel 4 Television. The film followed Haynes's Doctor Who: A Christmas Carol and preceded his work on Andor.

It runs 92 minutes and belongs to the drama and history genres. On IMDb it holds a rating of 7 out of 10 from around 18,000 votes, while on TMDB it has 6.6 out of 10 from roughly 371 votes. A film critics' rating of 7.3 out of 10 from 55 reviews places it somewhat above the audience scores recorded on TMDB and close to the IMDb figure.
