Katha Kathmandu is a Nepali drama that brings together several separate but connected stories set in the city of Kathmandu. Through these strands, the film looks at the different ways people experience desire, love and everyday life, focusing on a range of individuals whose paths cross in the capital.
The film was directed by Sangita Shrestha, who also wrote the screenplay, with Bijay Rai producing for Aahana Films. It runs 107 minutes and was released on 28 September 2018. As Shrestha's debut feature as director, it introduced her as a filmmaker working in the drama and romance genres, with the screenplay written by the same director.
The ensemble structure places the city itself at the centre of the film, using multiple storylines to show how private lives unfold alongside one another in an urban setting. The production comes from Nepal and was handled by a single production company, Aahana Films.
