Ramu, an unassuming man who has fallen on hard times, travels back to his home village to sell a plot of land he has inherited. Along the way he meets a young woman named Aparna and gradually falls for her. What he does not realise is that the two of them are caught up in an old feud between their families, and that Aparna's father has long been waiting for a chance to settle the score with him. The village's strict code of hospitality shields a guest from harm while he stays under his host's roof, but that protection ends the moment he steps outside, and Aparna's growing feelings for him only make his situation more dangerous.
Maryada Ramanna was directed by S. S. Rajamouli, his sixth film, arriving between Sye (2004) and Eega (2012) in a run that later included Bāhubali: The Beginning, Bāhubali 2: The Conclusion and RRR. It was produced by Prasad Devineni and Shobu Yarlagadda for Arka Media Works, from a screenplay by S. S. Kanchi, Vara Mullapoodi and Rajamouli. Sunil Varma plays Ramu, with Saloni Aswani as Aparna and Nagineedu Vellanki, Supreet, Prabhakar and Brahmaji in supporting roles. Released in July 2010, the film runs 125 minutes and blends action, comedy and drama. It holds a 7.5 rating on IMDb from around 3,700 votes and a 7.3 on TMDB from a much smaller voter base.
