Short description
A bank teller discovers that his existence is actually that of a background character in an open-world video game called Free City. After realizing he is a non-player character in a violent virtual environment, he decides to change his programming and become the protagonist of his own life. He seeks to save his world and the other digital inhabitants from the people who intend to shut the game down.

What's left behind the scenes
- Ryan Reynolds learned that Chris Evans was in Boston filming the miniseries 'Defending Jacob' (2020), and he sent him a text asking if he would be willing to play a cameo role for Shawn Levy. According to Levy, Evans agreed, but on the condition that it would take no more than 10 minutes. Everything was prepared in advance for his arrival, and filming with Evans took about 7 minutes.
- Luxurious sports cars, tanks, motorcycles, helicopters, and so on, used in the film were all real, so they had to be protected from accidental damage and other mishaps that typically befall props on set.
- In the scene where the character played by Jodie Comer receives a card from a masked man, Hugh Jackman played the latter.
