Medieval is a historical action drama set in Central Europe around the turn of the fifteenth century, as the Holy Roman Empire descends into violence over an empty throne. Jan Žižka, a mercenary commander, is drawn into a political scheme to abduct a nobleman's intended bride, a move meant to block her betrothed from gaining power. His feelings for the woman complicate the plan, and freeing her puts him on a collision course with the army protecting the corrupt aristocracy. The film follows his rise from hired fighter to the leader remembered for defeating the armies of the Teutonic Order and the Holy Roman Empire, with the fate of the empire resting on his choices.

Petr Jákl directed and co-wrote the screenplay with Kevin Bernhardt, and produced alongside Cassian Elwes. It is Jákl's second feature, following Ghoul in 2015. Ben Foster plays Jan Žižka, with Sophie Lowe as Kateřina, Michael Caine as Lord Boreš, Roland Møller as Torak, Magnus Samuelsson as Lars and Til Schweiger as Rožmberk, among a credited cast of thirty-one.

The film was a co-production between the United States and the Czech Republic, shot in 126 minutes and released in September 2022. Made for about 23 million dollars, it returned roughly 4 million worldwide at the box office. On IMDb it holds 5.9/10 from around 15,000 votes, while on TMDB it stands at 6.9/10 from 564 votes. A critics' rating of 5/10 from 33 reviews sits below the audience scores.
