Queen Bees

Helen, an independent widow, moves into the Pine Grove Senior Community and finds the social life there uncomfortably familiar. Cliques form, rivalries simmer, and suitors make their interest known, recalling the hierarchies of high school. Helen initially keeps her distance, but the relationships she resists gradually draw her toward the companionship and the possibility of romance she had been missing, including with Dan, another recent arrival.

Queen Bees was released in 2021 and runs 101 minutes. It is a comedy, drama and romance directed by Michael Lembeck, whose earlier credits include The Santa Clause 2 and Tooth Fairy; it sits between Sharpay's Fabulous Adventure and Snow Day in the chronological list of his features. Donald Martin wrote the screenplay, and Dominique Telson, Fred Bernstein and Harrison Powell produced it for Gravitas Ventures, Big Indie Pictures and Astute Films. Ellen Burstyn leads as Helen, with James Caan as Dan, Ann-Margret as Margot Clark, Jane Curtin as Jane Poindexter, Christopher Lloyd as Arthur Lane and Loretta Devine as Sally.

Audience responses are mildly positive: on IMDb the film holds 6.4/10 from around 4,700 votes, and on TMDB it has 6/10 from a much smaller pool of 66 votes. A critics' rating of 5.5/10 from 31 reviews places professional assessments somewhat below the audience scores.
