Takuya Okada is a high school student who spends time with his classmate, Mamizu Watarase, while she is hospitalized. Mamizu suffers from a rare condition called luminescence disease, which causes those affected to glow under moonlight. This light increases in intensity as the person nears death. Because her condition prevents her from leaving the hospital or reaching adulthood, Takuya vows to help her achieve her final wishes and expresses his romantic feelings for her as her time runs out.
The drama was directed and written by Sho Tsukikawa. In the director's career, this 2019 production follows five previous films, including Let Me Eat Your Pancreas and My Little Monster, and precedes the 2024 film Dear Family. The movie stars Mei Nagano and Takumi Kitamura, with supporting roles played by Shouma Kai, Honoka Matsumoto, Mio Imada, and Yuka.
Produced by companies including TOHO and KDDI, the film earned 8 million USD at the worldwide box office. Audience reception is mixed, with a rating of 6.2/10 on IMDb based on 368 votes.
