Murder on Omaha Beach

A police captain in Caen, Eloïse Gentil, has been estranged from her father Robert, a specialist in the Second World War, for twenty years. The discovery of a 91-year-old former American soldier on the Normandy coast, bound to a post in his uniform and apparently executed as an example, forces the two of them to work the case together. The staging of the death points back to the war that divided them.

Murder on Omaha Beach is a 2018 Belgian-French television drama and mystery of 90 minutes, directed by Claude-Michel Rome, who also wrote the screenplay. It is his fourth feature, following Man & Wife, Cop & Crook in 2008, Murder in Lozère in 2014 and this film in 2018. Claire Borotra heads the cast as Eloïse Gentil, with Michel Jonasz as Robert Gentil. The credited cast numbers 28 and also includes Claire Chazal, Jean-François Balmer, Pierre Deny and Frédéric Amico.

On IMDb the film holds a rating of 6.3 from 118 votes, while on TMDB it stands at 5.9 from 14 votes. Both point to a modest but positive reception, with the larger sample on IMDb suggesting a somewhat more favourable view than the much smaller one on TMDB.
