The First King

Two brothers, Romulus and Remus, start as shepherds before being swept away by a flood and captured by the people of Alba. Forced into combat as prisoners, the siblings lead a revolt and escape with other fugitives. Seeking safety and freedom, they aim to build a new city, but their journey is marked by conflict and a struggle for leadership. While one brother attempts to defy the will of the gods, the story concludes with the foundation of a great empire and a fatal confrontation between the two siblings.

The film was directed by Matteo Rovere, who previously directed Drifters in 2011 and Italian Race in 2016. He also served as a producer and co-wrote the screenplay alongside Filippo Gravino and Francesca Manieri. The main cast features Alessio Lapice as Romulus and Alessandro Borghi as Remus, supported by Fabrizio Rongione, Massimiliano Rossi, Tania Garribba, and Lorenzo Gleijeses.
