Amazon Women on the Moon

This comedy and science fiction film is a satire of American pop culture and television. The plot is structured around a broadcast of a 1950s-style movie about women on the moon, but the viewing is frequently interrupted by technical glitches. To fill these gaps, the station airs a series of absurd sketches, commercials, and short stories. One recurring character, Murray, finds himself trapped inside the television after pressing a button on his remote control.

The film was co-directed by Joe Dante, John Landis, Robert K. Weiss, and Carl Gottlieb. In the chronological order of their careers, this was the seventh of 16 films directed by Dante and the eleventh of 18 by Landis. It was the second film directed by Gottlieb, following Caveman, and the first for Peter Horton. The production was funded by Universal Pictures and Westward Productions with a budget of 5 million USD. The cast is extensive, featuring 93 credited actors, including Arsenio Hall, Lou Jacobi, Monique Gabrielle, Donald F. Muhich, Erica Yohn, and Debbi A. Davison.

Audience reception was mixed, with a rating of 6.2/10 on IMDb based on 13,000 votes and 5.9/10 on TMDB from 197 votes. Film critics provided a lower score of 5.7/10 across 20 reviews.
