What's left behind the scenes
- The man behind the wheel of the black Ferrari is the film's producer, Neil H. Moritz, who also produced another film starring Vin Diesel – 'xXx'.
- According to Robert Pattinson, he adopted the accent, intonation, and mannerisms for his character from American journalist and writer Christopher Hitchens.
- The working title of the film was “Merry-Go-Round.”
- Filming took place under conditions of the strictest secrecy. Robert Pattinson said that he was only allowed to read the script in a locked room at Warner Bros. headquarters, and Michael Caine was only given the scenes he was to appear in, not the entire script. Caine admitted to journalists that he had no idea what the film was about, despite being a close friend of Christopher Nolan.

Before the start of filming for this movie, Nolan broke that tradition. He wanted the creative team to rely on memory and intuition rather than trying to recreate what they had seen.
- A consultant – a genuine street racer with experience – was brought on board, and he advised purchasing a 1995 Mitsubishi Eclipse GSX, a 1994 Toyota Supra RZ, and a 1993 Mazda RX-7 for the main characters. Each car (and they bought five of each) cost around $10,000, plus approximately the same amount was spent on modifications.
- The film’s spectacular ending, beginning with the equally spectacular start of the legendary 1970 Dodge Charger, also wasn't without its tricks. The car used in the film looked like a real drag racing machine, but wasn’t one. In principle, genuine examples participating in quarter-mile races can easily lift their front wheels, but the Charger from the film 'cheated'. The stunt team equipped the Dodge with special pneumatic pushers with small wheels. The stunt driver, while inside the car, pressed a button, and the pushers lifted the car onto its rear wheels, and the Charger could travel 10-20 meters on its back wheels!
- The film featured over 80 tuned cars, of which only a quarter were damaged.
- Filming was so exhausting for John David Washington that he couldn't run for a month after it ended.
