Short description
Set in 1930s Moscow, this fantasy drama follows a prominent writer whose career is ruined after the Soviet state censors his play. While struggling as an outcast, he begins a passionate relationship with a married woman named Margarita. Together, they are linked to a new story the author creates, featuring a mysterious figure named Woland. Accompanied by a strange group of followers, including a large talking cat, Woland brings supernatural chaos to the city to expose the hypocrisy of the ruling class. As the plot unfolds, the boundaries between the writer's imagined world and his actual reality begin to blur.

- Initially, the project's title was to be the same as the title of Mikhail Bulgakov's novel of the same name. Later, the producers decided to call the film 'Voland,' but later abandoned this and returned to the original idea. Nikolai Lebedev, who had begun work on the film, focused on other projects, and Mikhail Lokshin took the director’s chair.
- In 2018, the film was included in the list of film projects that received state support from the Cinema Fund. At that time, it was reported that the film's budget was 800 million rubles. Filming began in July 2021 and lasted until October 2021 in Moscow, St. Petersburg, and Croatia (foreign filming was initially planned for Malta).
