The Craft: Legacy follows a teenage girl who moves to a new town with her mother and starts at a new school, where she struggles to fit in. She soon falls in with three classmates who invite her into their circle, and the four of them begin experimenting with magic. The powers they tap into give them more than they anticipated, and the group has to reckon with forces they did not fully understand. The film is a follow-up to the 1996 movie The Craft, set in the same world.
Zoe Lister-Jones directed and wrote the screenplay, her second feature after Band Aid and the middle entry among the three films she has directed. Cailee Spaeny plays Lily, with Zoey Luna, Gideon Adlon and Lovie Simone as the other three young women, and David Duchovny and Michelle Monaghan in supporting roles. Douglas Wick, Lucy Fisher and Jason Blum produced for Columbia Pictures, Blumhouse Productions and Red Wagon Entertainment.
Made for about 18 million dollars, the film took in roughly 2 million dollars worldwide, a weak return against its cost. Audiences were mixed: on IMDb it holds 4.6 out of 10 from around 19,000 votes, while on TMDB it sits at 6.1 from a much smaller pool of under a thousand. Critics landed in similar territory, with a 5.4 average across 112 reviews, close to the IMDb figure and below the TMDB score.
