Attila

Set in the fifth century, Attila centers on the clash between two men who each believe they are destined to shape the world. Attila, king of the Huns, wants more than the conquest of neighbouring lands; he envisions a new order built on his people. Standing against him is the Roman general Flavius Aetius, a man who embodies both the strengths and the corruption of an empire in decline. Their struggle plays out against the backdrop of Rome's fading power, with the fate of the city itself at stake.

The film stars Gerard Butler as Attila and Powers Boothe as Flavius Aetius, with Simmone Mackinnon, Reg Rogers, Alice Krige and Pauline Lynch in supporting roles. It was directed by Dick Lowry and written by Robert Cochran, and it followed Lowry's Project: ALF and preceded Category 7: The End of the World among the nine features he directed. It is a French television production, made by France 2, Telmondis and the Opéra National de Paris, and runs just under three hours. Audience response has been moderate: on IMDb it holds a rating of 6.4 from 215 votes, while on TMDB it sits at 7.3 from 61 votes.
