Sammo Hung directs and stars as Chin Fong Tin, a small-time con man who returns to his home village near the Chinese border after years away. He buys up much of the town, including its rail line, and arranges for passing trains to be stopped there so that stranded passengers will spend their money locally. His scheme draws a crowded assortment of travellers and troublemakers: government officials, merchants, bandits, and robbers, among them a group of thieves who have stolen a Chinese cultural treasure and the rival gang trying to take it from them. A bounty hunter is also on Chin's trail. The result is a chaotic tangle of pursuits and disputes in and around the town, with a fire chief turned police chief caught up in events.
The film is a Hong Kong action comedy with Western elements, released in early 1986. It is the tenth of sixteen films Hung directed, arriving between Twinkle, Twinkle Lucky Stars and Eastern Condors. The cast is large, with seventy credited performers, including Yuen Biao, Cynthia Rothrock, Kenny Bee, Olivia Cheng Man-Nga and Hsiao Ho. Keith Wong Wang-Gei, Alfred Cheung Kin-Ting and Barry Wong wrote the screenplay, and Leonard Ho produced.
On IMDb it holds a 6.9 rating from around 2,500 votes, while on TMDB it has a 6.7 from a much smaller base of about 63 votes. The two scores sit close together, suggesting a fairly consistent response across those audiences.
