After We Collided continues the story of Tessa Young and Hardin Scott, whose turbulent relationship has reached a breaking point. Following a betrayal that leaves Tessa feeling deceived, she tries to return to the life she had before Hardin and focus on her studies. She wins a sought-after internship at Vance Publishing, where she meets Trevor, a colleague who is attentive and dependable, the sort of man she believes she ought to be with. Hardin, aware that he has made a serious mistake, wants to repair what he destroyed and confront his own worst impulses, but Tessa's new surroundings and Trevor's presence test whether the two can find their way back to each other.
The film is directed by Roger Kumble, working from a screenplay by Anna Todd and Mario Celaya. It is the eighth feature Kumble directed and the second installment in the series adapted from Todd's novels. Josephine Langford and Hero Fiennes Tiffin return as Tessa and Hardin, joined by Dylan Sprouse as Trevor, with Louise Lombard, Charlie Weber and Candice King in supporting roles.
Released in September 2020, the film cost about 14 million dollars to make and took roughly 48 million dollars worldwide. Audience responses on IMDb average 5.1 from around 44,000 votes, while on TMDB the average is 7.2 from about 5,500 votes; a critics' rating of 4 out of 10 from 16 reviews sits closer to the IMDb figure.
