Short description
An immigrant named Herschel Greenbaum travels to America in the early twentieth century to build a better life for his family. While working at a pickle factory, he accidentally falls into a vat of brine, which preserves him without aging for one hundred years. Upon waking up in modern-day Brooklyn, Herschel searches for his relatives and discovers that his only living descendant is his great-grandson, Ben. Ben is a soft-spoken computer programmer, and the two struggle to find common ground due to their vastly different personalities and eras.
The film was directed by Brandon Trost and written by Simon Rich, based on his own short story. Seth Rogen plays the dual roles of Herschel and Ben, appearing alongside Sarah Snook, Molly Evensen, Eliot Glazer, Kalen Allen, and Kevin O'Rourke. The production involved Sony Pictures, Point Grey Pictures, Warner Max, and Gravitational Productions.
