Deadly Circuit, released in France in March 1983, follows Louis Beauvoir, a weary private detective known in criminal circles as "the Eye." Hired to look into the girlfriend of a wealthy family's son, he witnesses the young woman murder the man instead of reporting it. He becomes fixated on her, convinced she resembles the daughter he lost touch with years earlier, and rather than turning her in he trails her at a distance across Europe while she continues to charm, rob and kill affluent men. The film was directed by Claude Miller, whose earlier feature The Inquisitor had appeared two years before, and its screenplay was written by Michel Audiard and Jacques Audiard.
Michel Serrault plays Beauvoir, and Isabelle Adjani plays Catherine Leiris, the woman he pursues under several assumed names. Guy Marchand, Stéphane Audran, Macha Méril and Geneviève Page are among the twenty-nine credited cast members. The French production ran 120 minutes and was made by TF1 Films Production with Téléma Productions.
On TMDB the film holds a rating of 6.1 out of 10 from 115 votes, which suggests a modest but not dismissive response from viewers. The plot places it firmly in crime and mystery territory: a study of obsession and pursuit rather than a conventional investigation, built around two central performances and a trail of encounters in luxury hotels and resorts.
