Don't Look Up

Don't Look Up follows two astronomers who discover that a comet is on a collision course with Earth. They set out on a press tour to warn the public, but the people they try to reach are preoccupied with other matters and largely indifferent to the news. The central conflict lies in the gap between the urgency the scientists feel and the world's refusal to take them seriously.

Adam McKay directed and wrote the film, and produced it with Kevin J. Messick. It arrived after The Big Short and Vice, continuing the director's move from broad comedies such as Anchorman and Step Brothers toward satirical dramas drawn from real-world anxieties. Leonardo DiCaprio plays Dr. Randall Mindy and Jennifer Lawrence plays Kate Dibiasky, with Meryl Streep as President Orlean, Cate Blanchett as Brie Evantee, Rob Morgan as Dr. Teddy Oglethorpe and Jonah Hill as Jason Orlean. The production credits 138 cast members and 154 crew members, and the budget was 75 million USD for a 138-minute running time.

The film was released in December 2021. It holds a rating of 7.1/10 on IMDb from 667,000 votes and the same figure on TMDB from 9,693 votes, indicating a generally favourable audience response. A film critics' rating of 6.3/10 from 304 reviews is lower, suggesting critics were less enthusiastic than viewers.
