Shark Night 3D

Shark Night 3D follows a group of college students who travel to a lake house on a small island in Louisiana for a summer weekend of partying. Their getaway turns deadly when they discover that the water around them is inhabited by aggressive sharks. With one of their number badly injured, the friends try to reach help by boat, only to find themselves trapped on the water and fighting to survive.

The film is a horror thriller directed by David R. Ellis, working from a screenplay by Will Hayes and Jesse Studenberg. It is the seventh feature in the chronological list of Ellis's directing credits, arriving between The Final Destination and the end of that run, and it continues his work in the suspense genre. The cast includes Sara Paxton as Sara Palski, Dustin Milligan as Nick, Chris Carmack as Dennis Crim, Katharine McPhee as Beth, Joel David Moore as Gordon and Chris Zylka as Blake.

Produced by Relativity Media, Sierra/Affinity, Rogue Pictures and Next Entertainment, the film had a budget of 25 million dollars and took 41 million dollars worldwide, a return that outweighed its cost without amounting to a major hit. Audience response was weak: on IMDb it holds 4.1 out of 10 from around 28,000 votes, and on TMDB 5.1 out of 10 from roughly 600 votes. A critics' rating of 3.7 out of 10 from 74 reviews places it below even the modest audience scores.
