The Proud and the Beautiful

A French woman named Nellie arrives in a remote Mexican village with her sick husband. Following his death from a severe illness, she finds herself stranded and without money in a foreign land. During this crisis, she meets Georges, a fellow French citizen and former doctor who has struggled with alcoholism since the loss of his own wife. As an epidemic spreads through the community, Georges is pushed to provide medical aid once again. Through their shared grief and the hardships of the outbreak, the two develop a relationship that brings them both a renewed sense of hope.
