Women in Love

Women in Love is a British drama set in a 1920s coal-mining town in England. Two sisters, Gudrun and Ursula Brangwen, are teachers raised in the narrow confines of their community but eager for experience. Gudrun, a sculptor with an independent streak, and the more romantic Ursula become involved with two men: Gerald Crich, the wealthy owner of the local mines, and Rupert Birkin, a school inspector. Gudrun's relationship with the troubled Gerald grows intense and destructive, while Ursula and Rupert move toward a different kind of bond. A friendship between the two men complicates the four-way entanglement, and a trip to the Swiss Alps brings matters to a head.
