Set in November 1963, Love Field follows Lurene Hallett, a Dallas housewife whose fascination with Jacqueline Kennedy shapes her daily life. Shaken by President Kennedy's assassination, she defies her husband Ray and boards a bus for Washington, D.C., hoping to attend the funeral. On the journey she meets Paul Cater and his young daughter Jonell, and her suspicion that the girl is in danger draws her into their affairs. Her interference leaves the three of them fleeing together toward Washington while the police and Ray search for them.
Jonathan Kaplan directed the film from a screenplay by Don Roos. It followed The Accused and Unlawful Entry in Kaplan's filmography and arrived the same year as Unlawful Entry. Michelle Pfeiffer plays Lurene and also produced alongside Sarah Pillsbury and Midge Sanford. Dennis Haysbert plays Paul, with Stephanie McFadden as Jonell, Brian Kerwin as Ray, and Louise Latham and Peggy Rea in supporting roles.
Released in December 1992, the film had a budget of 18 million USD and returned about 1 million USD worldwide. On IMDb it holds 6.5/10 from roughly 4,900 votes, while on TMDB it sits at 6.1/10 from 87 votes. A critics' rating of 5.5/10 from 10 reviews places it slightly below the audience scores.
