Mujib: The Making of a Nation is a biographical drama about Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the founding father of Bangladesh. It follows him from childhood through his youth, when he began opposing injustice, and on to the movement for his country's independence, which he led toward statehood. The film was made jointly by Bangladesh and India, with a budget of about eight million dollars, and runs 176 minutes.
Directed by Shyam Benegal, the film is his first in the decades since his 1976 drama Manthan. The screenplay is by Atul Tiwari and Shama Zaidi, and the large credited cast is headed by Arifin Shuvoo as Mujibur Rahman, alongside Nusrat Imrose Tisha as Renu, Nusraat Faria Mazhar as Sheikh Hasina, and Raisul Islam Asad and Fazlur Rahman Babu among others.
The film was released on October 13, 2023. Ratings are divided: on IMDb it holds 4.4 out of 10 from roughly 6,300 votes, while on TMDB it stands at 6.5 out of 10 from a much smaller group of 63 votes, so the two audiences are clearly not in agreement.
