BARDO, False Chronicle of a Handful of Truths

Silverio Gama is a well-known Mexican journalist and documentary filmmaker who has built his life in Los Angeles with his wife Lucía and their children. When he receives a prestigious international award, he travels back to his native Mexico, a trip that turns into a reckoning with who he has become. Memories and fears bleed into his daily life, and he finds himself questioning his identity, his family relationships and his sense of belonging to a country that has changed around him.

Alejandro González Iñárritu directed and co-wrote the film with Nicolás Giacobone, and produced it with Stacy Perskie. It is the eleventh of thirteen features he has directed, arriving after The Revenant and before Sueño Perro. Daniel Giménez Cacho leads as Silverio, with Griselda Siciliani, Íker Sánchez Solano, Ximena Lamadrid, Luz Jiménez and Luis Couturier among the cast, which numbers thirty-five credited performers.

Released in 2022 and running 159 minutes, the film is a Mexican-American comedy-drama. On IMDb it holds a rating of 6.7 from roughly 16,000 votes, and on TMDB a rating of 6.8 from around 274 votes. A critics' rating of 6.4 from 166 reviews places it somewhat below the audience scores on both platforms.
