After her husband's sudden death, Libby Moran struggles to hold her family together while living with her overly critical mother. An unexpected offer from her estranged Aunt Jean gives her an escape: a place to live and work on Jean's goat farm in central Texas. Libby packs up her children and drives there before she can reconsider. Farm life turns out to be busier and stranger than she expected, between the animals, the hard work and the people around her, including James, the farm's gruff manager. The film is a drama with romantic elements about a widow rebuilding a life for herself and her children in an unfamiliar place.
Vicky Wight directed and wrote the screenplay, adapting Katherine Center's novel, and produced alongside Leslie Bibb and Bridget Stokes. It was Wight's first feature as director; her second, Happiness for Beginners, followed in 2023. Bibb leads the cast as Libby, with Josh Duhamel as James, Nora Dunn as Aunt Jean, Herizen F. Guardiola as Sunshine, Kevin Alejandro as Danny and Isiah Whitlock Jr. as Russ McAllen.
Released in April 2020 and running 109 minutes, the film drew modest but positive audience responses, sitting at 6.7 out of 10 on TMDB from a small number of votes and 6.1 out of 10 on IMDb from several thousand, a spread consistent with a warmly received smaller release.
