Dollman is a science fiction action film about an alien police officer, Brick Bardo, who pursues a criminal across space and crashes on Earth. On his home world he is full-sized, but the crash leaves him roughly a foot tall, and the fugitive he was chasing is reduced the same way. Stranded in a rough New York neighbourhood, Bardo takes shelter with a woman and her young son, while his enemy joins forces with a local gang. The film follows his attempts to protect the people who helped him and to survive long enough to leave the planet.
The film was directed by Albert Pyun, released in November 1991 and running 82 minutes. It sits between Kickboxer 2: The Road Back and Nemesis in a directing career that had already included The Sword and the Sorcerer, Cyborg and Captain America. Tim Thomerson plays Brick Bardo, with Jackie Earle Haley, Kamala Lopez, Humberto Ortiz, Nicholas Guest and Judd Omen among the cast. Chris Roghair wrote the screenplay, Cathy Gesualdo produced, and Full Moon Entertainment was behind the film.
On IMDb it holds a rating of 5.2 from around 4,300 votes, while on TMDB it stands at 4.8 from about 99 votes. The two scores are close and modest, suggesting a small genre audience that regards the film as a minor entry rather than a standout of Pyun's filmography.
