The Adam Project

A fighter pilot named Adam Reed travels through time and ends up crashing in 2022, years away from where he intended to land. Injured and stranded, he crosses paths with his twelve-year-old self, a boy still grieving his father's death a year earlier. The two reluctantly join forces: the older Adam wants to change the past, and the boy has reason of his own to go along with it. Complicating matters, the two versions of the same person do not get along, and the mission forces them to work through their differences. The story moves between the present and a future where time travel is still in its early stages.

The Adam Project is a 2022 American adventure comedy with science fiction elements, directed by Shawn Levy from a screenplay by Jennifer Flackett, Mark Levin and T.S. Nowlin. It is the thirteenth film of the seventeen Levy has directed, following Free Guy and preceding Deadpool & Wolverine. Ryan Reynolds plays the adult Adam and also produced alongside Levy and Dana Goldberg, with Walker Scobell as the young Adam. Mark Ruffalo and Jennifer Garner appear as Adam's parents, Zoe Saldaña as Laura, and Catherine Keener as Maya Sorian. Made on a budget of about 116 million dollars, it runs 106 minutes.

Audience response was moderately positive: on IMDb it holds 6.7 out of 10 from roughly 256,000 votes, and on TMDB 7 out of 10 from a much smaller base of about 5,000. A critics' rating of 6.1 out of 10 from 217 reviews places professional assessments slightly below the audience scores.
