A Week Away

Will Hawkins is a teenager whose run-in with the law leaves him with a choice: juvenile detention or a summer at a Christian camp. He arrives feeling out of place among the regulars, but over the course of the week he forms friendships and falls for Avery, a girl who has been coming to the camp for years. Music runs through the story, and it becomes part of how Will settles in and starts to see where he belongs.

A Week Away was released in March 2021. It is a musical drama with comic and romantic elements, running 95 minutes, and was directed by Roman White from a screenplay by Alan Powell and Kali Bailey. Powell also produced alongside Gabe Vasquez and Steve Barnett. Kevin G. Quinn plays Will, with Bailee Madison as Avery, Sherri Shepherd as Kristin, David Koechner as David, Jahbril Cook as George and Kat Conner Sterling as Presley.

Reception has been modest. On IMDb the film holds 5.8 out of 10 from around 6,000 votes, while on TMDB it sits at 6.9 out of 10 from roughly 400 votes, a smaller and evidently more favourable sample.
