The Big Hit

Etienne is a struggling actor who manages a theater workshop within a prison. He assembles a diverse group of inmates to stage Samuel Beckett's play Waiting for Godot. The story follows their efforts to transform from prisoners into performers, eventually leading to an opportunity for the troupe to perform on tour outside the prison walls.

This French comedy-drama was directed by Emmanuel Courcol and co-written by Courcol and Thierry de Carbonnières. It is the first of two films directed by Courcol, followed by The Marching Band in 2024. The movie stars Kad Merad as Etienne Carboni, alongside Marina Hands, Laurent Stocker, Pierre Lottin, Wabinlé Nabié, and Aleksandr Medvedev. Produced by Agat Films & Cie and Ex Nihilo, the film had a worldwide box office return of 3 million USD.
