Short description
Spencer follows Princess Diana over a Christmas holiday at the royal family's Sandringham estate in Norfolk, England, in the early 1990s. Her marriage to Prince Charles has broken down, and although the couple and their relatives gather for the traditional festivities, the occasion is dominated by appearances rather than honesty. Diana, aware of the game being played around her, prepares to change the course of her life.
Pablo Larraín directed the film, which sits between Ema and El Conde in his filmography and follows his earlier portrait of Jackie Kennedy. Steven Knight wrote the screenplay, and the cast is led by Kristen Stewart as Diana, with Jack Farthing as Charles, Timothy Spall as Major Alistair Gregory, Sean Harris as Darren, and Jack Nielen and Freddie Spry as William and Harry.
