Rowena Price, an investigative journalist, learns that her friend's death may be connected to Harrison Hill, a powerful advertising executive. Unable to let the case go, she launches her own inquiry. With help from Miles Haley, a computer expert, she assumes a false identity to get close to Hill, posing as a temporary employee inside his agency while also approaching him anonymously through online chat. The double role draws her deeper into his world as she tries to determine what he is hiding.
James Foley directed the film, which was written by Todd Komarnicki and produced by Elaine Goldsmith-Thomas. It was released in April 2007 and runs 109 minutes. Halle Berry plays Rowena, with Bruce Willis as Harrison Hill and Giovanni Ribisi as Miles Haley; Richard Portnow, Gary Dourdan and Florencia Lozano appear in supporting roles. Coming after Confidence (2003), it sits between that film and Foley's later work on Fifty Shades Darker (2017) and Fifty Shades Freed (2018).
Produced by Columbia Pictures and Revolution Studios, the film cost about 61 million USD and took roughly 73 million USD worldwide. Its IMDb rating is 5.7/10 from around 54,000 votes, and on TMDB it stands at 5.8/10 from just over a thousand votes. A critics' score of 3.6/10 from 141 reviews places it below the audience ratings, which lean toward a mixed response rather than strong praise.
