Quo Vadis, Aida?

Aida works as a translator for the United Nations in Srebrenica in July 1995. When the Serbian army takes control of the town, her husband and sons are among the thousands of civilians who seek protection in the UN camp. Because she interprets during the negotiations, Aida learns details that most of those sheltering cannot see, and she comes to understand that the international force present will not stop what is coming. With that knowledge, she tries to find a way to save her family while the situation around the camp grows more dangerous.

Jasmila Žbanić directed and wrote the film, which she also produced with Damir Ibrahimovich. The lead role of Aida is played by Jasna Đuričić, with Izudin Bajrović, Boris Ler and Dino Bajrović as members of her family and Johan Heldenbergh and Raymond Thiry as members of the international force. The production was a broad European co-production, with a budget of about 5 million USD.

Released in February 2021, the film runs 104 minutes. On IMDb it holds a rating of 8 out of 10 from around 42,000 votes, and on TMDB a rating of 7.7 out of 10 from roughly 500 votes. A critics' rating of 8.8 out of 10 from 82 reviews is higher than both audience scores, indicating strong approval among reviewers as well as viewers.
