Your Eyes Tell

Akari has lost her sight and her parents in a car accident, yet she holds on to the small pleasures that remain and greets the world with good cheer. Rui, a former kickboxer, has drifted away from his promising career and from most of society, living quietly and working nights. Their meeting unsettles him; her openness pulls him out of his solitude, and the two grow close.

What neither realizes at first is that the accident that took Akari's sight and Rui's past are bound up with each other, and Rui sets out to do what he believes is right. This Japanese drama is a remake of the South Korean film Always.

Takahiro Miki directed, working from a screenplay by Yuichi Toyone; Mitsuru Uda, Tsuyoshi Matsushita and Yoshihiro Suzuki produced. Yuriko Yoshitaka plays Akari Kashiwagi and Ryusei Yokohama plays Rui Shinozaki, with Ryosei Tayama, Kyosuke Yabe, Toru Nomaguchi and Eita Okuno in supporting roles. The film arrived in 2020, between My Tomorrow, Your Yesterday and The Door into Summer in Miki's filmography of nine titles. On IMDb it holds a 7.4 from roughly 2,500 votes, while on TMDB it stands at 8.5 from about 520 votes, a small and strongly positive sample.
