Ballad

A young boy named Shinichi travels back in time to 16th-century Japan, where he befriends a general named Ijiri Matabei. The general is in love with Princess Ren, who refuses an arranged marriage to a powerful northern Kanto daimyo named Okura Itakatora. This rejection leads Okura to launch a military invasion against Ijiri's smaller state, leaving Shinichi to attempt to alter the course of their fates. The story is based on a 2002 Crayon Shin-chan animated movie.

Directed by Takashi Yamazaki, this production is the second of 18 films in his career, following Always: Sunset on Third Street 2 and preceding Space Battleship Yamato. The screenplay was written by Yamazaki and Yoshito Usui. The film stars Tsuyoshi Kusanagi, Yui Aragaki, Takao Osawa, Yui Natsukawa, Michitaka Tsutsui, and Akashi Takei.
