Three Violent People

Three Violent People is a Western set in Texas during the Reconstruction years after the Civil War. Colt Saunders, a former Confederate officer, comes home to his ranch with Lorna, the woman he has just married, whose past as a saloon dancer she is anxious to hide. The couple's new life is threatened from several directions: a provisional government and its corrupt officials want to take his land, and tensions within his own family, including his hostile brother Cinch, complicate matters further.

The film was directed by Rudolph Maté, released in 1956 as the sixth of the seven features listed for him in chronological order, following The Black Shield of Falworth and preceding The 300 Spartans. James Edward Grant wrote the screenplay, and Hugh Brown produced for Paramount. Charlton Heston plays Colt Saunders opposite Anne Baxter as Lorna, with Gilbert Roland, Tom Tryon, Forrest Tucker and Bruce Bennett among the twenty-five credited cast members.

On TMDB the film holds a rating of 6 out of 10 from 44 votes, indicating a modest but not dismissive response from that audience.
