Act of Valor

Act of Valor follows a team of U.S. Navy SEALs who are sent to rescue a kidnapped CIA operative held in Central America. What begins as a recovery operation turns into something larger when the team uncovers a terrorist network planning a coordinated attack on American soil. As the SEALs pursue those responsible across several countries, they must also balance their duty to their country and their team with their commitments to the families waiting for them at home.

The film was directed by Mike McCoy and Scott Waugh, who also produced it, from a screenplay by Kurt Johnstad. It was the first feature the directing pair made, later followed by Need for Speed, 6 Below: Miracle on the Mountain, Expend4bles, Hidden Strike and Runner. It features active-duty Navy personnel in many of the combat roles, alongside actors including Roselyn Sánchez, Jason Cottle, Alex Veadov, Nestor Serrano, Ailsa Marshall and Gonzalo Menendez.

Released in February 2012, Act of Valor was made for about 12 million dollars and took in roughly 82 million dollars worldwide, a strong return on its budget. Audience response has been moderate: it holds a rating of 6.4 out of 10 on IMDb across some 74,000 votes and 6.6 out of 10 on TMDB, while a critics' rating of 4.6 out of 10 from 141 reviews indicates a less favorable reception from reviewers.
