The Last Rifleman

Artie Crawford, a World War II veteran living in a care home in Northern Ireland, learns that the 75th anniversary of the Normandy landings is approaching. Determined to honour his old regiment and the comrades he served alongside, he slips away from the home and sets out for France, a journey that stirs memories he has long kept to himself.

The drama is directed by Terry Loane, whose earlier feature was Agatha and the Truth of Murder in 2018 and who went on to make Faraway Home in 2026; this film sits between them in that order. Kevin Fitzpatrick wrote the screenplay, with Katy Jackson and John Leslie producing. Pierce Brosnan plays Artie, heading a cast that includes Clémence Poésy, John Amos, Jürgen Prochnow, Ian McElhinney and Tara Lynne O'Neill, among 42 credited performers. The production was a British one, mounted by Ingenious Media, WestEnd Films, Wee Buns Films and Ripple World Pictures.
