Times Square

Two teenage girls from very different backgrounds meet in a New York hospital where they are being evaluated. Pamela is the sheltered daughter of a politician; Nicky is a streetwise girl who rejects authority. They run away together, and the film follows them as they try to survive on their own in the city. Reports of what the pair get up to differ, but they form a punk band and attract public attention, while the police and their parents search for them.

Allan Moyle directed Times Square, his first feature, which came before Pump Up the Volume, Empire Records, Xchange and Man in the Mirror: The Michael Jackson Story. Jacob Brackman wrote the screenplay and produced with Robert Stigwood. Trini Alvarado plays Pamela and Robin Johnson plays Nicky, with Tim Curry as Johnny LaGuardia, Peter Coffield as David Pearl, Herbert Berghof as Dr. Huber and David Margulies as Dr. Zymansky, among 62 credited cast members and 58 credited crew. The film was released in October 1980 and runs 111 minutes. It is a drama with music at its centre, made as a British and American co-production. On TMDB it holds a rating of 6.4 out of 10 from 44 votes.
