Short description

Welcome to Hotel Transylvania, Dracula's lavish five-stake resort, where monsters and their families can live it up and no humans are allowed. One special weekend, Dracula has invited all his best friends to celebrate his beloved daughter Mavis's 118th birthday. For Dracula catering to all of these legendary monsters is no problem but the party really starts when one ordinary guy stumbles into the hotel and changes everything!

What's left behind the scenes

  • Andy Samberg co-wrote and performed the song "Sweet 118." He recorded it in his Saturday Night Live office and played it for Michelle Murdocca over the phone during a conversation.
  • A dishwashing sponge was used as the basis for creating Eunice's voluminous hairstyle.
  • The microphone at Mavis's party is identical to the one in the Oscar®-winning short film The Chubby Ones (2002). Sony Pictures Animation released the short 10 years ago.
  • Wayne's watch doesn't actually show the time, but the phases of the moon.
  • The hotel address is: Romania, Umbre, Transylvania Street, house 666 (it can be seen on the back of the guidebooks that Dracula gives to guests).
  • Miley Cyrus was originally set to voice Mavis, but declined to focus on other projects, and Selena Gomez took her place.
  • This is the first feature film by director Genndy Tartakovsky.
  • Andy Samberg co-wrote the lyrics and performed the song "Sweet 118" himself. He recorded it in his Saturday Night Live studio office and played it for Michelle Murdock over the phone during a conversation.
  • The artists were inspired by a similar technique used to create Arthur's sweater in the movie Arthur Christmas (2011) when developing the "knitting" technology for George and Gina the gremlins' sweaters.
  • The microphone at Mavis's party is exactly the same as the one in the Oscar®-winning short film Chubb Chubs (2002). Sony Pictures Animation released the short film 10 years ago.
  • Among the decorations on the wall of Mavis's room is a poster featuring a girl who strongly resembles Selena Gomez, who provides her voice.
  • The artists were inspired by a similar technique used to create Arthur's sweater in the animated film *Santa Claus' Secret Service* (2011) when creating the technology for "knitting" sweaters for George and Gina's gremlins.
