What to Expect When You're Expecting follows several couples whose lives are upended by the approach of parenthood. Jules, a television fitness personality, and Evan, a dance show star, discover that a pregnancy does not fit neatly into their public careers. Wendy, an author who has built a following around baby advice, finds her own hormones and moods far harder to manage than she expected, while her husband Gary competes with his father, who is expecting twins with his much younger wife Skyler. Photographer Holly wants to adopt a child from abroad, but her husband Alex is not ready and seeks reassurance from a support group for new fathers. A pair of rival food-truck owners, Rosie and Marco, must decide what to do when a single night together leads to a pregnancy.

The film is a comedy drama directed by Kirk Jones, whose earlier work includes Waking Ned, Nanny McPhee and Everybody's Fine, and it was written by Heather Hach and Shauna Cross. Cameron Diaz, Jennifer Lopez, Elizabeth Banks, Chace Crawford, Brooklyn Decker and Ben Falcone are among the main cast, part of a large ensemble of credited performers.
