Barbie and her sisters Skipper, Stacie and Chelsea are looking forward to a Christmas holiday in New York City, but a heavy snowstorm forces their plane to land elsewhere. Stranded in the tiny town of Tannenbaum, the four of them settle into a small inn and get to know the locals, who give them a warm welcome. To thank the townspeople, the sisters put their musical talents together and stage a performance for the whole community. The experience leaves them with a renewed sense of what the season is really about: being together.
Directed by Mark Baldo, the film followed his earlier Bionicle: The Legend Reborn and came before Rock Dog 2: Rock Around the Park. Elise Allen wrote the screenplay, with Kevin Gamble and Gokul Kesavan producing for Mattel and Technicolor. Diana Kaarina voices Barbie, with Jennifer Waris providing her singing voice, while Rachel Harrison and Rachel Drance share the role of Skipper, Nevada Brandt handling Skipper's singing, and Lauren Lavoie voicing Stacie.
Made in the United States and running 74 minutes, the animated family film was released in November 2011. On IMDb it holds a rating of 5.5 from roughly 1,800 votes, while on TMDB it sits at 6.7 from around 333 votes, a gap that suggests the smaller, more self-selected audience there responded more warmly than the broader IMDb user base.
