Hawaiian Vacation

Bonnie is leaving for a week's holiday in Hawaii with her family, and the toys in her room are looking forward to the quiet. Barbie and Ken, however, have other ideas: they hide in her backpack, hoping to go with her. When Bonnie leaves them behind, Ken is devastated. Their planned romantic trip has fallen through, and Woody, Buzz and the rest of the toys decide to do something about it, working together to give the pair a tropical holiday without ever leaving the bedroom, in the middle of a Midwest winter.

Hawaiian Vacation is a short animated comedy from Pixar, released in 2011 and running about seven minutes. It continues the story of the toys introduced in the Toy Story features, with Tom Hanks and Tim Allen returning as Woody and Buzz, alongside Joan Cusack as Jessie, Don Rickles and Estelle Harris as Mr. and Mrs. Potato Head, and Wallace Shawn as Rex.

It is the second short Gary Rydstrom directed, following Lifted in 2006 and preceding Strange Magic in 2015; he wrote the screenplay with Jason Katz and Erik Benson, and Galyn Susman produced. Reception has been warm but modest in scale: on IMDb it holds 7.2/10 from around 11,000 votes, and on TMDB 7/10 from a smaller pool of voters, a level of agreement that suggests a likable, lightweight companion piece rather than a major entry in the series.
