Set in the 1970s in the coastal town of Kunchon, this crime action film follows a group of female divers who harvest seafood without equipment. When industrial pollution from nearby factories threatens their livelihood, the divers, including close friends Choon-ja and Jin-sook, are pressured into a dangerous smuggling operation to survive. As the illegal business grows beyond the control of those managing it, the once peaceful village begins to unravel.
The film was directed by Ryoo Seung-wan, who also served as a producer and co-writer. It is the tenth feature in his career, following Escape from Mogadishu and preceding I, the Executioner and Humint. The movie stars Kim Hye-soo, Yum Jung-ah, Zo In-sung, Park Jeong-min, Kim Jong-soo, and Go Min-si. The production involved a credited cast of 43 people and a crew of 41.
Audience reception was moderately positive, with a rating of 6.2/10 on IMDb based on 2,100 votes and a score of 6.5/10 on TMDB from 84 votes. Film critics gave the movie a higher average rating of 7.1/10 across 16 reviews.
