Emi is a schoolteacher in Bucharest whose life is thrown into turmoil when an intimate video of her and her husband circulates online. The recording shows two masked people, but Emi is identified as the woman in it. As the video spreads, her career and reputation come under threat, and the headmistress calls a meeting of parents who want her dismissed. Emi refuses to give in to their demands, turning the confrontation into a question about what society considers obscene and who gets to decide.
Radu Jude directed and wrote the film, with Ada Solomon producing. It sits first in the chronological list of his features, before Do Not Expect Too Much from the End of the World, Dracula and the other titles that follow. Katia Pascariu plays Emilia Cilibiu, alongside Claudia Ieremia as the headmistress, Olimpia Mălai, Nicodim Ungureanu, Alexandru Potocean and Andi Vasluianu. The production was a co-production involving Romania, the United Kingdom, Luxembourg, Croatia, the Czech Republic and Switzerland, with 34 credited cast members and 51 credited crew.
The film runs 106 minutes and blends comedy with drama. On IMDb it holds 6.5 out of 10 from around 12,000 votes, and on TMDB 6.4 from 278 votes, while a critics' rating of 7.4 from 116 reviews puts professional assessments higher than the general audience response.
